Week 25

Weekly Greetings!

Despite a large part of our week going to MAP testing, we were able to participate in a few other activities.  Wednesday was our 100th Day celebration, and after recess we had 100 minutes of fun events that were connected to math concepts. The students were crowned for the event, and after a themed story the students hunted for 100 Hersey Kisses that were hidden in the room. We estimated their weight biased on a bag of Peanut M&Ms. While eating snacks, we graphed some choices of things we would like to have 100 of, and then it was out to the hall to build a train of 100 objects. The finale was a challenge between two groups to build a tower using 100 toilet paper rolls, which they had to defend  while having a paper wad war. I think everyone enjoyed the 100 minutes of fun.
Thursday was the Spelling Bee and we watched three students from our class as they participated in the competition.
On Friday, the kindergarten chased out the bad and welcomed in the good for the start of the Chinese New Year. They marched through the school, going into each room and entertained us with rattles.
We will have another full week, and the school counselor will be visiting on Wednesday. We will also be starting Science Fair experiments for projects the students picked last week.

Have a great week, and kind regards.

Julie Brown
