Week 27

Weekly Greetings!

It seems strange to start a week on a Wednesday, but that is where school begins this wek. Due to the three-day week, there will not be a Spelling test this Friday. I am sending home the words for next week, though it is a review unit so the students will be familiar with all the words. For the students returning their Book Logs weekly, I will be having and after school party on next Monday, February 25. If your child is one of the students that has read at home nightly, they will be bringing home a permission slip this week. This will be the last "Seasonal Readers" party, as the elementary teachers will be introducing a K-5 reading incentive program on February 27. I will explain more on that next week.

As for last week, the highlight was Valentine's Day of course. We started our celebration by graphing Conversation Heart candy and found that there were more pink candies than any other color. Each student had a box to sort and graph before eating them. Then it was time to hand out cards and eat treats. Thank you to all that provided something for the party.
On Friday, the class learned a little history about Presidents' Day, and in honor of our first president George Washington, we made Cherry Thumbprint cookies.  The students enjoyed the additional snack after recess.
I hope you have an awesome week!

Kind Regards,

Julie Brown
